Wissahickon Gateway Project Update

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission (PCPC) and its engineering partner Michael Baker held a community meeting in East Falls last week to get feedback about plans to upgrade the Wissahickon Transportation Center, redevelop parcels between it and the movie theater, and create a new segment of the Schuylkill River Trail along the waterfront, and other improvements.

Participants took the opportunity to express concerns about and hopes for the project

The proposed alignment of the SRT behind the bus terminal and around the PECO site can be seen here.

The event was well attended, and featured over a dozen posters that participants could interact with. Additionally, PCPC and Michael Baker had ample representatives present to answer questions and help the public participate. This is a multi-year project, with an as yet undefined start date. We will post updates as more information becomes available.

Thanks for the follow up. I am thrilled this is finally happening!

Unthinkable that after all these years there’s still a missing link on the SRT, but at long last this is being addressed. My only suggestion would be to soften the sharp turn near the mouth of Wissahickon Creek, if that can be done.
