Opening Day of Trails (and much more!)

On April 8, 2017, there are a bunch of awesome events going on to celebrate the Opening Day of Trails, among many other events. They include community work, rides, and, hey, the chance to break a world record.

We’ve put together a short list of all these events (click the links for more information), and the chances to register for them.

Unfortunately, it’ll be pretty tough for a single person to make every event happen. So choose wisely.

Explore the Circuit: Season Kick-Off

Come join the Bicycle Coalition for its kick-off to the start of trail season, an Explore the Circuits group ride held on Saturday, April 8.

The 18-mile, Triple Play ride will hit three different trails, the Schuylkill, Audubon, and the Perkiomen Trails.

Circuit Trails Opening Day: Break a World Record!

Trail season opens Saturday April 8, and the Circuit Trails are celebrating by attempting to break the Guinness World Record title for the longest fist-bump relay. The Circuit Trails are asking cyclists to come out to Penn Treaty Park from 2-3:30, and bring as many friends as you can to break the 300-person record.

10th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup

The 10th annual Philly Spring Cleanup is less than two weeks away. From 9am to 2pm on Saturday, April 8th, hundreds of volunteer groups will take to the streets of Philadelphia for a day dedicated to clearing the trash and litter off the streets and beautifying the city.

Chester Creek Trail Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

The Chester Creek Trail in Delaware County is opening!

The opening announcement will be made at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the 1.5-mile marker on the Chester Creek Trail.

Belmont Plateau Cleanup

For those who want a clean up event with a bicycle theme, we encourage you to help out with the Belmont Plateau Trails Alliance, who will be working to rid the woods and road sides of trash and debris in the area of the Chamounix Drive picnic areas and the Edgely Ultimate fields.

Tools, work gloves and light refreshments will be provided. For more information, check out BPTA’s facebook page.
